The Women’s Political Association created the
Women’s Peace Army to ‘fight for the destruction
of militarism with the same spirit of self
sacrificeas soldiers showed on the battlefield.’

Recognising that those who supported party
politics might not feel themselves able to join the
WPA, it was considered wise to enlarge our
borders by forming a Women’s Peace Army, to
which all sections of people could belong.
